Christmas Stars

December takes me down the memory lane to those days when everything was perfectly fine with life, in fact , the word "life" was very big to understand then. All that I knew in those days was my home, school and grandparents' home. Those were the days when life was so simple, without having to do much except doing my lessons well, playing and obeying elders. Back then, by this time of the year, I used to finish my half-yearly examination and get set for vacationing in my maternal grandparents' house. It was a usual practice then, to spend my holidays in the house of my grandparents. On the day of my last exam itself, my grandfather/grandmother or both used to come to my home, so that they can take me at the earliest. Sometimes it also happened that I would go with my mother. I had to travel from my home town  Vijayawada  to Guntur  which would take about one hour to reach by bus and hardly forty-five minutes if your travelling by car. In the initial days of my chil...

The Blessings I Got

The Working Class

At the cost of your toil, We celebrate and enjoy, Claim ourselves the best, For being born into decent families, Take pride for owning a luxurious life. While our decency and superiority have prevented us From respecting your labour, You put all your sweat and blood, To make our lives smooth and comfortable. We are very much indebted to you. The world would be struck with famine, If you do not cultivate. The world would become rotten and smell foul, If you do not pick the garbage And clean the surroundings. The world would be homeless, If you do not built houses. The world would be naked, If you do not weave the cloth And wash our dirty clothes. From the very moment we opened our eyes, You offered help, At each and every step of our lives. Yet, we haven't honoured you or treated you with dignity, Unlike the richer society. May a day come, when we understand that, You are the most precious people in the world, Dearest to us than anyone else, You are...

Mango Prose

Image Source: Google When I was apathetic to taste the delicacies that were presented before me, I found you alluring with your bright golden yellow coloured skin. Your physical structure was indicating that you would be sweet and cool, which was all what I wanted to savour on a hot afternoon. Also, your fat fleshy body was promising to satisfy my apatite. I touched you to check if you have that thirst quenching property which was missing with the other items, and yes, you were soft and juicy too. Then without wasting another minute, I grabbed you from the tray, peeled off your skin and put you into my mouth. The moment my tongue touched your juice, I pursed my lips and screwed up my eyes. I frowned at you for promising to be sweet and turning out to be sour. However, one more time I considered and this time to my surprise you were sweet. Every time I suck your juice, I could feel a series of sweet and sour blasts in my mouth. Now I cannot understand what your reality is. Was w...

A Summer Evening With Joyful Beings

Image source: Google As the sun calmed down, reducing his intensity, we opened the doors and let ourselves out of the tightly closed, artificially cooled house, to breathe some natural air. Though the warmth in the air hasn't yet died and no leaf seemed to have life, my eyes fell on a scene that was so lively to watch and brought a cool wave of happiness to the mind. What could be more interesting on a summer evening than to watch children playing on the streets with cries of cheer and joy. I was bending over the wall of my balcony to see a group of ten boys, all aged below fifteen playing cricket. Now,this is the cricket played in Indian streets without rules, so ten boys would do the job of two teams. Again, out of the ten, eight were active players and two were silent spectators. They must be umpires. I got caught up in their play as it displayed exuberance and their pure hearts. The children knew no boundaries, hypocrisies, limitations, inequalities or fears. The group h...

Bliss Of Togetherness

Image source: Google My heart craves for those days, when, There were so many people living under the same roof, the ancestral house, All that mattered was only broad minds but not broad rooms, The old were respected, cared and regarded as the heads of the family, There was a joint account and all work for the welfare of all, Whatever that was brought home was equally shared among everyone, One's mom was busy, there was another mom ready to attend to his/her needs, Dad was strict about something, there were other dads to ease the situation, Aunts occasionally visited home with their children, adding more members to our regular cousins gang, Grandparents pampered and protected us from parents' scoldings, One mother feeds all the children in the house from the same plate, We irritated our grandparents for stories, We divided as groups and fought among ourselves over petty issues, but within a short time again became one team , The entire family attended to anyo...

Dear............

Dear eyes, For whose sake are these tears? When you clearly know that you never get what you need. Dear mouth, For whose sake are these arguments? When you know that people never let you win. Dear sleep, Why don't you come to me? When I lie cold as a dead body, waiting to embrace you. Dear mind, Why are you restless? Sometimes with happiness, sometimes with grief. When you know what is inside you and what kind are you, Why are you so much concerned about others judgement? Dear God, Why did you make me the way I am? When you know  very well that , I would neither belong to the earth nor the sky. Dear me, What a life are you? In spite of having a heart full of love, that can accommodate everyone, You still fail to express it. In spite of having so many lives around you, You are still alone. In spite of having saved some pride and respect for yourself, You still fight to make people understand you. Born on earth and trying to reach the sky, Born as a co...

These Little Things Matter The Most

Life is all about how we look at it and how we take it. Many a time, we find people getting desperate to find happiness. They have set some standards for what is to be called a "happy life". If they meet those standards, then all is said to be well, otherwise, the "problems" of their lives start. Unfortunately, there are many, for whom the basic needs of life doesn't get satisfied. Happiness to them means, getting food three times a day for all the members of the family, having a roof over their heads and some cloth to cover themselves. There are other category of people who have much more that the required, but still, they are never happy with life. It should be accepted that human beings always have a longing to be something more than whatever they are, so there is nothing wrong to aspire for more. However, there is no need to get desperate because there is a lot in our lives to be very happy about. First of all, we should be very happy for having been born i...

Very Delicate...To Be Handled Carefully

Relationships are the toughest things to  handle in life. If carefully handled, they make our lives beautiful and complete, lest, they become unbearably heavy. A troubled relationship will ruin our morale and make our lives dark. Why is it that way? Can't we live alone by abandoning all the relationships? We can, if we are very high on our spiritual path, like a saint who is free from the worldly possessions. Anyway, as that is not the case with most of us, we can't abandon anyone or any relation, for we cannot live a lonely life. We need everyone in our life to support us, to love us, to care us, to share our pains and to celebrate our happiness. Unfortunately, at times relationships strain, may be due to our carelessness and become a "burden" to our lives. But, how to avoid relationship crisis and how to restore the damaged relations? After a serious contemplation on this subject, I arrived at the following conclusions. I don't say that these are the ultimate ...

Pick Up A Book

"Its food time, where in this world are you?",  "you shouldn't make food wait for you, instead, you should wait for food" ,"please come into this world and spend some time with us","sweet heart..I am missing you", I am listening to these dialogues from my mother, grandparents and fiance .Ever since I bought these books,no hunger,no thirst, I don't feel like talking to anyone. I am literally isolated from this world. I think that is the power of a book. Friendship with books is the best thing that can happen in anyone's life.Books mold us in a positive way, give us new energy, aggravate our quest to know more and more of something, relieve us from boredom and make us a different being from those who haven't read a book in their life. Hence acquaint yourself with books and get the best out of them. The books that are currently on my shelf are- A Tale Of Two Cities - Charles Dickens Great Works of Rabindranath Tagore Great Wor...

My Dear Friend

My best friend has inspired me to write these lines :) In the darkness of the night, When I was involved in a fight, With a dejected plight, That held my mind tight, I came across a light, That made my heart bright, Gave energy to stand upright, Restored peace, making things alright. © Written by Manaswini Pasumarthi

My First Post

Hello world! Today is a great day for the writer in me, for she got a chance to speak herself out and give a shape to her love. My love for writing started at a very young age when I hardly knew any words. Since then the lust for writing has been haunting me and making my self restless. However till now I couldn't invest much of my time into writing because I was so deeply involved with other activities of life. Finally the time has come to do what I love to and thanks to google for not only giving me a space to write but also a huge number of sweet readers who give me energy to write more and more. This is all I can say for today. Stay connected, be happy , find out what you love and start doing that. © Written by Manaswini Pasumarthi
